2-in-1: Lularoe Perfect Tee as the Perfect Dress

While it seems like many people have autumn on the brain right now, my head and heart are still stuck in summer mode. Maybe it’s because I’m no longer in school so I don’t have the going back feeling looming over me. It could also be that I’ve been panicking about just how fast life seems to fly by! I want to hang onto this season as long as I can because living in New England, once the cold weather hits, it seems to last forever. So, I’m currently still focused on summer style. Not to mention we’ve been having a heatwave here so it’s impossible to think about long sleeves and boots…

Which brings me to the dilemma that I’m sure all of us have had at some point. You may have a closet (or three if you’re like me) full of clothes, but you’re still bored of everything you own. If you’re also like me, you may be on a tighter than tight budget (as in, your man gets mad at you if he sees any new clothes come through the front door). Well, this can actually be a good problem to have because it forces you to get creative with what you already own! I was looking for a dress the other day when it was around 95 degrees out and I felt like I had worn all of mine about 1000 times each.

My eyes and hands kept skimming through my closet until I spotted one of the LuLaRoe Perfect Tees I was lucky enough to get sent by consultant Rebecca Vicaretti a few months ago for a blog feature. Some of the LLR shirts are pretty long in order to pair well with their incredibly popular leggings. Long enough, in fact, that the wheels in my brain started turning and I thought my Perfect Tee would make an adorable dress and bathing suit coverup.

The Perfect Tee as it pairs with LLR leggings. This was a photo from a shoot I did with my sister back in the spring.

Fingers crossed as I pulled it over my head and voila! The Perfect Tee had become the perfect dress! It’s longer in the back so as not to have any booty mishaps, it’s lightweight to keep you cool, and the patterns are super fun!

Remove the leggings, throw in some summer heat, and the Perfect Tee becomes the Perfect Dress!

I’m sure that I’m not the first person to discover the 2-in-1 usage of a LLR shirt, but I sorta felt like a style genius when I came up with this on a desperate whim. Now it feels like I have a brand new dress just by shopping my own closet. It may or may not be THAT good of a thing because now I am super tempted to by more LLR shirts to try to use as dresses and I’m supposed to be saving but I digress.

If you haven’t already jumped on the LuLaRoe train you should get your ticket aboard now! I know I’m just one of a million fans who love the ultra comfortable and cute clothes and love the way you shop for them. You join a consultant’s Facebook group and at least once a week they host a Facebook shopping event where they post their latest LLR inventory in albums and the first to comment “Sold” on a piece gets to buy it! It’s an exciting way to shop but be warned, it can become very addicting.. 😉

I will be honest and say that I’m only 5’3″ so I can’t guarantee a Perfect Tee or any other LLR shirts will fit everyone like a dress as they do with me. If you don’t already have any lying around to test this out with, I’d say there’s no harm in purchasing one and seeing how it fits. If worse comes to worse, you’ll have an awesome shirt to pair with leggings which are the true intentions of these pieces anyway! The brand also has tons of actual dress and skirt options as well (my favorite dress style is the Nicole). Join the LuLaRoe Love VIPs Facebook group that I follow, run by consultant Rebecca Vicaretti, and take part in the fun of building your LuLaRoe collection 🙂

Review: Maybelline Better Skin Powder

Hey everyone! So it’s been a few months since you’ve heard from me. Life had been a little crazy, well, a lot crazy. I hadn’t even had the time to think about blogging although I dearly missed it. However, I’ve started trying to focus on my happiness above all, and that includes making sure I continue to blog. As a creative person, when you lose or don’t have time to cultivate your creative outlet, things can turn really depressing. I’m glad to be back!

Thanks to Influenster, I was recently gifted with the Maybelline Better Skin Powder VoxBox. If you haven’t checked out Influenster yet, don’t wait! It’s an awesome site where you can review your favorite products and discover new ones you may love. On top of that, Influenster runs many VoxBox campaigns where you can get the chance to receive free products to test out and share your experiences on social media and within your blog!

I had actually almost forgotten that I had applied for a chance to get the Better Skin Powder VoxBox when it showed up on my doorstep, so I was especially excited. I just used the powder for the first time and have to say, I really do love it! It looks so natural and makes me look and feel like I’m not even wearing makeup.

Starting with the packaging (because I’m such a sucker for that kind of stuff), I like the clean, simple label and the fact that it shows the shade of the powder very well. I appreciate that there is a separate space for the sponge so it’s not always smushed against the powder getting it all petri dish-like like some of my other powders. 🙂

Although Better Skin Powder touts that it covers like a foundation, I have to admit on this particular day I used it over my regular foundation. I wasn’t having a very good skin day and felt that I needed the extra coverage. The great thing, however, is that the Better Skin Powder contains salicylic acid which is what always helps stop my breakouts in their tracks! I had run out of my normal acne products, so I was glad to have the reinforcement of this powder.  My skin is already looking better today, a few days after the fact! I also used the Better Skin Powder with the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer, a product I already owned and have enjoyed using for a few months to cover specific blemishes. The concealer is made with ACTYL C, which has antioxidants, so between that and my new powder, I think my skin will be looking much better!

In real life, my face does match my body tone 😉 Weird lighting in my room!

*Update! I used the Better Skin Powder by itself because my skin is a bit clearer today and it looks even, well, BETTER! I love that it feels so light and the fact that it doesn’t need to be pancaked on makes me happy.

Today’s picture! Just using the Better Skin Powder by itself 🙂

I really try to keep my makeup routine as simple and natural as possible. Contouring and all that looks beautiful, but I’m a scaredy cat about using that much product! Because I have a history with breakouts, I try to use as little as is necessary, and I ensure everything I put on my face will not clog pores. That’s why I was so thrilled to try out this Maybelline Better Skin Powder! It really helps cover imperfections while providing a pretty natural look. After all, on these 95 degree days, less is more for sure!

Disclaimer: I received the Maybelline Better Skin Powder free for testing via an Influencer VoxBox campaign. All opinions on the product are my own.

Stripes and Solids

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having a fabulous Friday and have some exciting plans to look forward to this weekend. Or maybe you don’t, maybe you’re simply looking forward to lots of relaxation, couch and Netflix time, which is totally a great idea too! Either way, I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Striped maxi: T.J. Maxx (see below for similar styles) | Long-sleeve crop top: Forever 21

I don’t have any major plans, but I usually end up doing something spontaneously fun. For that, I’ve decided I will break out one of my favorite tried-and-true outfits perfect for any springtime activity- a striped maxi skirt with a solid crop top. You can’t really get any more comfortable than this while still looking classy and pulled together, ready for day or night fun.

This striped maxi skirt is my absolute favorite, and it’s been a go-to for hmmm, I’d say the past two years at least. Unfortunately this means it’s probably not still in stock (I got it from T.J. Maxx and we know they change out clothes regularly), but I’m pretty positive it’s generic enough that you could find a similar style out there. In fact, here, here, and here are some that I like which I believe are similar! The material of this maxi is very stretchy. Mine might be a bit tighter because I throw it in the dryer to shrink it since I don’t like when my skirts drag on the ground (I’m a germophobe).

Because of the vibrant pattern of the skirt (if you stare at the skirt in my photo long enough it might become an optical illusion), I kept it toned down with a solid top. This crop top is from Forever 21 and even though I’ve had it for awhile, they still make this style which can be found here. I paired this outfit with a gold necklace layered necklace (which features lots of cool charms!) that was one of the Modern and Chic Boutique monthly freebies!

If you haven’t checked out Modern and Chic Boutique, you must. As I said, on top of all the pretty fashions they sell, each month they offer a free product with a code (not including shipping, which has always been $6 for me). The freebies are really lovely! I’ve ordered two since discovering Modern and Chic, an adorable mint colored winter beanie and the necklace in the picture above. This month’s is a beautiful statement necklace with a floral design, and I really need to get on that! Check them out here and be sure to follow them on Instagram at modernandchic! for the freebie codes!

Have a fabulous weekend loves! xo

Old Navy OOTDs

Hey all! So, you may remember in one of my last posts, I talked about how I had gone on an online Old Navy spring shopping spree, only for Massachusetts to get hit with snow once it arrived at my doorstep. Well, it’s been a few weeks now and I’m happy to say spring has finally arrived in full force here in New England! With the nice weather we had this weekend and today, I was able to break out some of my new Old Navy goodies for frolicking in the sun. (I also am realizing how much I love blue…)

Romper from Old Navy

I was extremely excited to be able to break out this romper today for running errands around Salem. Running errands in a city means you don’t need a car, so rocking an awesome outfit makes shopping even more fun when you can strut down the sidewalks! Just kidding, I don’t actually strut, more like speedwalk (no one can ever keep up with me), but wearing something cute does make errands more fun.

This gingham romper is super comfortable for any spring activity, and the best part? IT DOESN’T SHOW YOUR BUTT WHEN YOU WALK. The one issue I’ve had with rompers in the past is that I always feel like they’re made SO short. I can’t be the only one who has felt that way, right? There are no issues in that department with this Old Navy number.

Because I am 5’3″ and didn’t want it to show too much but also didn’t want it to be huge, I purchased it in the petite size and it fits wonderfully. I did wear a tank top under it for extra coverage so my “undergarments” didn’t show (I can’t find my strapless bra for the life of me). I also added a long white knit cardigan from Charlotte Russe because 1) there is almost always a chill living on the coast and 2) It added another fun dimension to the outfit. For jewelry, I kept it simple with a gold anchor charm necklace purchased from Roost & Company, a local (adorable) shop here in Salem that sells everything from home decor, cards and stationery, jewelry, soaps and lotions, baby and kid products, humorous items, etc. etc. Basically anything you’d want to gift a friend, or especially yourself! If you’re ever in Salem, MA you must check it out!

Yesterday was even warmer than today, and called for getting lunch and margaritas with my best friend on a restaurant patio, relaxing under the sun and people watching, followed by a visit to Nick’s parents’ home (where this photo was taken). I had been waiting and waiting to wear this Old Navy dress, and was finally able to do so for these activities! (Honest note: Nick had a flag football game, and I wore this there. HUGE mistake, dirt was blowing everywhere and I left early for the patio drinks with my friend. Would you blame me? Haha).

The material of this dress is nice and silky, and I love the pattern. Also, I clearly love anything blue. It pairs nicely with a cardigan, for when there’s still a little chill in the air. Unfortunately this dress is sold out, but I hope they get it back in stock soon! In the meantime, here, here, here, and here are some pretty Old Navy spring dresses that I’m loving!

‘Til next time,

A Nature Walk at Breakheart Reservation

Tis the season for being one with nature and reflecting on the infinite beauty all around us.

It’s finally starting to warm up a little around here in New England, and today Nick had the idea for a nature walk. I wholeheartedly agreed as I felt like it had been forever since I’d really ventured away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnected with nature. We decided to take a visit to Breakheart Reservation in nearby Saugus, Massachusetts. Kervin (one of Nick’s best friends) was visiting us and came along as well – even though he had just driven up overnight from D.C. and hadn’t slept yet! What a trooper.

Kervin and Nick enjoying spending time together

Kervin and Nick enjoying spending time together (Nick’s hair in the wind has me loling)

This was my first time ever walking Breakheart, even though I’d heard it was a beautiful spot. It certainly was! There were many trails to walk around, some paved and some through woods. We started out on the paved trails, but ventured out through the woods trails until we reached Silver Lake. We stopped to enjoy the beauty of the bright blue water and the forest surrounding it. I imagine this spot will look even more majestic when the trees fill with leaves in the late spring, and when they turn to pretty reds, oranges and yellows in the fall. We will have to come back then and check it out.

Our gorgeous view of Silver Lake. Look at that sparkling water!

Our gorgeous view of Silver Lake. Look at how blue the water is! There is also Pearce Lake on the other side of the reservation, but we didn’t really go that way.

I wish I had taken photos of the trails and some other areas, but when enjoying the peacefulness of nature, you don’t always want to ruin it with your phone! Our minds are even better cameras than the ones we carry around on a regular basis. We passed by an informational sign that detailed how Breakheart Reservation used to be owned by millionaires for hunting and fishing, and then during the Great Depression in the 1930s, a government organization took over the land and provided jobs for men by having them camp there and build it up into the pretty and accessible conservation area it is today.

There are lots of little inlets like this around Silver Lake where you can capture a great photo.

It was a refreshing feeling for both my body and mind to reunite with nature and get some fresh air and exercise on a gorgeous spring day. It was pretty windy though, so style-wise it gave me an excuse to wear my winter beanie another time (I really enjoy my knit hats), my awesome solid black LuLaRoe leggings and a cozy blanket scarf (although I ended up taking it off because I got too hot). Although I’ll be honest, being super stylish was not something I was really concerned about for exploring trails! Tomorrow is going to be even warmer so I hope to spend another day in the presence of the great outdoors!

I forgot my sunglasses, but that didn’t bother me. Let the sun shine down!

Hope you all are enjoying your weekends, and as always, thanks for reading! P.S. If you’d ever like to visit Breakheart Reservation, it is located at 177 Forest Street, Saugus, MA.

“Coming Through in a Clutch”

Gianna Monogrammed Clutch from Prep Obsessed

Gianna Monogrammed Clutch from Prep Obsessed

Today on Instagram I entered this photo into the Style Collective Spring Style Challenge for Tuesday, April 12: Spring Bag or Clutch. It was just my luck that over the weekend this beauty happened to arrive in the mail in perfect timing! You’ve heard me sing the praises of Prep Obsessed before (I particularly love their scarves), and this is my latest purchase from the online store. They had a discount code available one day and while perusing their website I found this gem. I’ve actually never owned anything monogrammed (which is shocking because I love my initials in script) and I knew this was a great place to start! Enter: the Gianna Monogrammed Clutch.

This particular clutch came in one color, which ironically just so happens to be my favorite color (love shades of turquoise). I was a big fan of the typestyle used for the initials, and went the traditional route of first initial, last initial, middle initial, with the  last initial larger than the rest. I was so excited for this bag because while I  own a few clutches, I didn’t have what I consider any “oversized” ones and felt like I could barely fit all the necessities in them.

A view of the clutch (filled up!) under indoor lighting

This clutch looked nice and big on the website, and sure enough, it is! It’s a size that I’m comfortable enough with carrying around, but can fit all the key items you’d want to carry and more. And, of course, it’s personalized! I love being able to rock my monogram whenever I want now!

Prep Obsessed has a whole section of their website dedicated to monogrammed products including clothing, accessories, jewelry, and home decor. Because monogramming the items is a custom process, they ask that you allow 3 weeks for production. So, you’ll have to patiently wait to get your goodies, but it’s all worth it because when they show up in the mail it’s a joyful day! For me, 3 weeks later I had actually forgotten that I ordered something (LOL) and was delighted see the name on the package and remember! Maybe I do a little too much online shopping…(just kidding, no such thing). Next time you’re looking for a personalized piece or searching for a great gift for the fashionista in your life, check out Prep Obsessed!

Friyay OOTD

Oh, New England. We know the saying – “if you don’t like the weather in New England, just wait a minute.” It’s so, so true. The other week we had a bout of warm weather, hitting 75 one day. This kicked into gear my desire to go on an Old Navy shopping spree for new spring clothes. I ordered a bunch of things, and two days later it proceeded to snow 4-5 inches. WHY. Why must Mother Nature play with my emotions like that?

I had planned on writing up an awesome blog post all about the cute items I purchased on my spree, but I’ve barely been able to wear any of them lately! I’ve been stuck in my winter wardrobe and I couldn’t see a true end in sight. However, today is *slightly* (key word, slightly) warmer and I just HAD to break out one of the new pieces into the mix. Enter: this fabulous gauze top!

Top: Old Navy | Jeans: T.J. Maxx (similar styles)

When I saw it on the Old Navy website ($12.97!) I just had to have it. I spend most of the winter months in neutrals and big sweaters, so I want to switch it up for spring and be as bold as possible. This shirt is super lightweight and airy – it makes me feel like I’m on a tropical vacation even when I’m at work! The great part is, it is actually work appropriate and also perfect for a night out or even an event that requires a casual chic outfit. I’ll be taking it from day to night today by wearing it at work and then going to a beer and cider tasting afterward.

I paired the top with white jeans (a T.J. Maxx purchase) as inspired by the model photo of the shirt on Old Navy’s website. Like I said, I want to feel like I’m on vacation even though I’m far from it. I think you could wear either gold or silver jewelry with this outfit and it would look stunning. I opted for gold. I feel like the color of the shirt combined with crisp white jeans and gold jewelry makes me appear more tan than I am at the  moment 😉

Unfortunately, this shirt is only available on the Old Navy website in size small right now, but it does seem to run pretty big so perhaps mediums could fit in it.  Hopefully they will get more in stock of this type of shirt! All in all for my Old Navy shopping spree when all was said and done I got $111 worth of clothes for about $63!! I bought a lot of sale items but also used a 30% off one item code they had that day and I used some of my Super Cash from being a cardholder. I just can’t get enough Old Navy, and the funny thing is, I have been wearing their clothes since they were brand new! Yup, my mom started taking me there back was I was just a kid when they opened in 1994. Customer for life! Stay tuned as I hope to debut more of my new spring items soon! (Cross your fingers for good weather)

#WIW: What I Wore, Easter

Hey all! I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful Easter filled with lots of love, blessings, and of course, plenty of chocolate 😉 I certainly did! I also used Easter as an opportunity to break out a never-worn dress I had been storing in my closet for months. My mom and I had gone to Kohl’s back in the middle of winter, when the spring clothes were first arriving in stores. She spotted a classic, chic navy and turquoise dress that she thought was just my style (and she was so right). I love, love, love both navy and turquoise. She also knew that I have a summer wedding I will be attending, and we both thought this dress would be perfect for that. The sweet mommy that she is, she even bought it for me 🙂

Dress from Kohl’s (brand: Iz Byer). The dress is sleeveless, but since there was a slight nip in the air, I paired it with a matching cardigan.

I had it in my mind since getting the dress (haha, as if it’s all-important…”THE DRESS”) that I wouldn’t wear it until the wedding in August. A very tough feat for me, since that seems so far away, although we all know how quickly the time really passes. However, I woke up on Easter morning with no real plan of what to wear. I was going to my mom’s and I knew she and my sister would certainly look adorable as always. Suddenly all of my old dresses seemed sub-par. Then I saw “THE DRESS” in the back of my closet…I CAVED, WHAT CAN I SAY? It was beckoning to be worn for this special holiday, with its cute cut and springy color combo.

I can’t say I have any remorse. I felt beautiful the whole day through! And you know what? Not a single soul at our Easter gathering will be at the wedding in August, because it is a friend wedding. So there! It will still be as if it made its first debut, just with a different crowd! Kohl’s has lots of adorable dresses for these upcoming warmer seasons, so if you’re a dress fanatic like me, head on over there or to the website ladies! The exact dress featured in this post is still available!! It’s $32.99, and comes with the belt. It’s sleeveless, but as you can see in my photo, pairs great with a cardigan.

Because I’m hilarious, and obsessed with the animal face filters on Snapchat…”HOP” you had a good Easter, from Lindsey the Easter Bunny!

Tell me, how did you celebrate Easter? Any spectacular new memories made? New outfits debuted or old outfits given new life? I’d love to hear from you! Also, if you want to stay connected, let’s be Instagram buddies! Find me at lindseylouthatswho. Oh, and as I’m sure you all know, you’ll want to turn on notifications for me by hitting the 3 gray dots in the top corner of my page to really keep up to date. Silly Instagram, alienating their user base BUT I don’t make the rules 🙂 Special thanks to all those who already follow me and share the love!! ❤

First Outfits of Spring: Shopping My Own Closet

Happy first official week of spring, at least for those in the Northern Hemisphere! Here in New England, the weather is still in that weird in-between season where sometimes it’s super warm and sometimes it still feels like winter is breathing its icy breath. I haven’t really started my shopping for a new spring wardrobe yet, and to be honest, the bills this month have been prettyyy crazy! Therefore, the first half of this week I decided to do a little “shop my own closet” action.

Dress: Forever 21 (similar style) | Top: Forever 21

While I really, really, wanted to wear this black and white striped dress in its natural state, a.k.a. sleeveless, yesterday’s weather wasn’t quite right for it. I got this dress, which goes to just below the knees, last year at Forever 21 (similar style here). While I never wore it outside of the warmer months, I figured out a way to combine it with an old crop top and turn it very early spring friendly! Yes, this long sleeve black shirt underneath the dress is a crop top, also from Forever 21, purchased a few years ago, but can still be found on their website.

It’s actually far too much of a crop top for me these days. I’m personally kind of growing out of the excessively cropped phase as I’m now approaching age 26 and not quite as full of abs as I was a few years ago. I blame it on the fact that in the past couple of years, I discovered how much more I love drinking wine than going to the gym, but that’s neither here nor there. I no longer wear the shirt as a crop top but it’s FANTASTIC for layering. I am very big on coming up with ways to multipurpose clothes! It matched the dress and provided an extra layer of warmth so I didn’t look like one of those desperate people who really wants to believe that 45 degrees Fahrenheit constitutes sleeveless wear. I threw on a matching statement necklace that was a Christmas gift, some knee high black suede boots I got last winter from Off Broadway and I was out the door and off to work!

Dress: Old Navy | Cardigan: Forever 21 (similar style) | Scarf: Prep Obsessed | Sandals: Target

Today was warmer, so I felt like lightening up, both in outfit color and style. While it wasn’t QUITE sandal weather yet, it was still fairly warm and my foot was kind of swollen. Perhaps it’s TMI but I have a circulation issue that affects my feet –  it’s part of who I am and why sometimes I choose footwear that doesn’t always “go” with an outfit…foot comfort is actually more important than style of shoe for me most days, because if my feet hurt, I can’t hold myself with pride no matter what I’m wearing. BUT, these sandals matched the outfit so whatever! They are extremely comfortable and I purchased them from Target last spring (they’re still available!).

This navy blue dress is a simple Old Navy staple, and I’d been buying this style of dress from them for years in every color. Unfortunately, I no longer see it on their website (but they do have some great spring dress options). I’ve had this one for quite a bit, and I manage to layer it with all kinds of other pieces season after season. Today, I covered the dress with a minty, aqua-ish colored cardigan from Forever 21 (similar style here) and my favorite nautical patterned lightweight scarf from Prep Obsessed. (The scarf was from their mystery scarf 3-pack, so it’s not a regularly sold item sadly). Navy blue and kelly green is perhaps my favorite color combo of all time, and this outfit had me thinking about the days ahead when I’ll be cruising Lake Winnipesaukee in style on my uncle and aunt’s boat!

Tomorrow is back to chilly again, so I doubt I’ll be wearing another dress, but I’ll still be trying to come up with new ways to combine pieces I’ve had for awhile to see what fun and fresh outfit magic I can create! If you don’t already, follow me on Instagram at lindseylouthatswho to see what tomorrow’s OOTD will be!

Weekend Roundup

As the weekend comes to a close, I’m reflecting on it through the past few days of Instagram photos. (If you don’t already follow me, find me at lindseylouthatswho – I follow back!) I consider the weekend as actually starting Thursday because it was St. Patrick’s Day, a beloved holiday in my family even though, spoiler, we aren’t Irish!! We still celebrate with the best of ’em.

Mint shirt from Forever 21, white jeans from T.J. Maxx

I kicked off St. Patrick’s Day by wearing my green, of course. But umm…this shirt that is most definitely mint green in person (I asked people at work to verify that it wasn’t just my eyes) apparently comes out light blue in photos! I promise though, it is green, and I didn’t get any traditional pinches. I don’t follow the “no white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day” rule (there are no rules in fashion, wear what makes you feel good), so I wore white pants with this ensemble to bring a spring-y vibe. I kept the jewelry simple, just wearing this pretty initial necklace Nick got me for Christmas.

Mom’s table, all decked out for St. Patrick’s Day!

After work, I headed to my mom’s house for a traditional Irish boiled dinner of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. (Not sure if carrots are usually made with this meal, but she added them in anyway). With any holiday, my mom goes all out with the decorating because she works at an event supply company and can get her hands on all sorts of fun decor. Green of any shade is my favorite color, and I absolutely loved the contrast of the kelly green linens on the white dishware! The dinner was delicious and we even topped it off with boozy Lucky Charms milkshakes. I really wish I’d snapped a photo but unfortunately wasted no time in devouring this tasty drink that was more like a dessert. You can find a recipe for these here, and let me tell you, I would make these any time of the year!

My daily motto, on a candle

Moving on from St. Patrick’s Day, I got this absolutely diva-like candle at T.J. Maxx and have been admiring it all weekend. How perfect is this quote for all the girl bosses out there (and we all are)! I love the handwritten look of the words, and the pretty gold cheetah print pattern on the label. Pretty much everything in my living room is cream, black, or some similar neutral color so this blended in perfectly. The scent is hard to describe; kind of a mix between vanilla, cinnamon and fresh linens, if that’s possible. I haven’t started to burn it yet because I don’t want to melt it down and ruin the look! Silly me. But I can’t be the only one who buys candles just for looks…

The DG burger (complete with guac) from A&B Burgers, and some bacon truffle fries, makes all right with the world.

On Saturday, Nick and I paid a visit to A&B Burgers in Beverly. A&B used to be in Salem but moved locations shortly after Nick and I moved here. However, the new location is only but a five minute drive from our apartment, so it’s totally fine! We loved the restaurant interior, which was crisp and modern, with an industrial vibe complete with garage doors as windows which can open in warm weather, yet rustic aspects like some of the decor, and the wooden tables and mason jars for water. A&B burgers are literally the best I’ve ever had.

I’m not actually a huge burger aficionado, but A&B’s are so good that I’d go here literally once a week if I could (which, I guess, I can if I want)! It definitely helps that the beef is incredibly fresh, and as it states on their menu, made from “cattle, raised on ranches, free of added hormones or antibiotics”. The quality is obvious once you bite into one of these juicy burgers. And don’t forget a side of the bacon truffle fries! It’s way too hard not to devour the whole pail. If you’re ever in the North Shore area of Massachusetts, a visit to A&B Burgers is highly recommended by me!

Heading down to the sand at Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA

After stuffing our faces with burgers and fries, we felt like taking a walk to work off the full feeling. We headed out to Ipswich to walk along Crane Beach, a gorgeous, long beach looking gorgeous under the early spring sunshine. The weather was a bit chilly however, and on the walk back while facing the wind, I thought my nose and ears were literally going to fall off. It actually hurt when we got back in the car and they started to warm up. Yikes! But enjoying the sunshine and seeing lots of horseback riders and cute dogs on the beach was fun anyway!

My Sunday Funday included this haul from Ulta!

In a burst of energy today, I actually managed to get out of the house before 11AM on a Sunday and headed to Ulta simply to renew my supply of Urban Decay Primer Potion. I had been trying to use all my might to eke out the remnants of the primer from an old bottle when I thought “enough is enough, why don’t I just go get more??”. As we all know, one does not go to a cosmetics store and just get one product. That’s one of the more impossible aspects of life. While there, I decided to also replenish my Revlon ColorStay eyeliner, as I’d thrown out my old one 1) because it had gotten down to a nub and was scratching my eye to keep using it 2) for the bigger reason that I had dropped it on the floor of a Boston subway car and officially banned myself from touching it ever again besides picking it up with my fingertips and warily putting it in my purse to later throw out. I’m a massive germaphobe.

Anyway, adding that to my purchase at Ulta, I also decided to give a new concealer a go because the dark circles under my eyes are just getting out of hand. No matter how much sleep I get, I always look like I didn’t snooze a wink. I’ve actually had these dark circles for as long as I can remember, and was even self conscious about them as a child. My sister, who is my personal beauty guru and also a blogger/vlogger, recommended Maybelline Fit Me concealer, but they didn’t have a color in stock that I thought would match me. I went with Maybelline Better Skin concealer, because that’s something I could definitely use…I’l post a review later this week!

As luck would have it, Ulta is having a 21 Days of Beauty promotion until April 2nd, so I scored some awesome free samples, including two adorable Smashbox lip glosses, Philosophy Hope in a Jar foundation, and Escada perfume. I’ll do a review of these samples as well. Hopefully I’ll want to add these things to my makeup collection!

All in all, this weekend was a great one for the books. Relaxing, yet fun and productive at the same time (because shopping and going out for delicious food always is). Even though today is the first day of spring, tomorrow we are due for a Nor’Easter (what they call crazy snow storms in the Northeast U.S., although most of the time they call regular snow storms Nor’Easters anyway so the weather people can hype it up for ratings). Even though I’m not excited about the thought of snow, winter was very mild for us this year so I suppose one more brush with it wouldn’t be too, too bad. As long as it melts within the next few days! Hope you all had a lovely weekend as well, and thanks as always for reading! 🙂
